Name: Ryan Anderson
Job/Employer: Architect, Shive-Hattery
About You: I grew up in a small town on the Illinois side of the Illinois-Wisconsin border and went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for architectural undergraduate and graduate schooling. I’m an adrenaline junkie living in the big city of Chicago and have a soft spot for the great outdoors, which has led me to explore and create sustainable solutions for clients throughout my career. I am currently part of the higher education team at Shive-Hattery, working on multiple LEED certified buildings, and striving to do my part through collaboration and participation in The American Institute of Architects 2030 Challenge.
Why you joined the EP Committee: My passion for sustainable design in architecture and incorporating sustainable ideals into everyday life aside, the chance to be part of an organization like USGBC was hard to pass up. It was a no-brainer for me to help spread awareness around green building and sustainable thinking to create a more sustainable future. The EP group is a great way to get involved.
Likes: A good glass of bourbon, the outdoors, snowboarding and wakeboarding, all things sports, especially Chicago teams, standup comedians, and my dog, Dylan.
Dislikes: Driving under the speed limit, tardiness, oysters, and people that don’t share the sidewalk.
