Name: Natalie Hicks
Job/Employer: Architect, Shive-Hattery
About you: I grew up in rural central Illinois and didn’t stray far when I went to the University of Illinois, which I attended for seven years to earn my Master of Architecture and MBA. Upon graduation I moved to Peoria to work at a large architecture/engineering firm and later relocated to Washington, D.C., for the same company. In spring 2015 I was recruited to relocate to Chicago and begin my architecture career here.
Why you joined the EP Committee: At both firms I have worked at I have been affectionately referred to as the “sustainability queen,” and have been known to slap Styrofoam cups out of people’s hands. I am very passionate about the future of our planet, equity for all, and inspiring hope. I think the EP group is a great resource for young leaders and am excited to be involved.
Likes: Wandering the city staring at all the architecture, great food and drinks on a good rooftop, the beach, live indie music, and a great cup of coffee.
Dislikes: Cars, winter, and when restaurants on Grubhub send me plastic cutlery even though I specifically requested that they not.
