Name: Andy Stein
Job/Employer: Sustainability Program Coordinator, Northwestern University
About you: I am Milwaukee native and have always been very passionate about sustainability. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota with a focus on Corporate Environmental Management. After college, I moved back to Milwaukee and worked at Kohl’s Department Stores Corporate Headquarters as a Sustainability Analyst. Within this role, I helped develop their green building strategy, managed several energy efficiency projects, and participated on a team that certified over 200 LEED buildings.
I then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., to earn a master’s degree in Sustainable Solutions from Arizona State University and worked as a Project Manager for the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives. I’m now back in the Midwest and part of the Energy Solutions team at ConneXion, where we help clients in the Chicago area reduce their energy consumption through advanced technologies in the field of lighting and renewable energy.
Why you joined the EP Committee: It is only natural that my career path and personal interests lead to my involvement in Illinois Green Alliance (IGA). I support all of the work IGA does and I hope that my work in my professional and personal life will help create a more sustainable future.
Likes: I am an avid runner and currently training for the Chicago Bank of America Marathon. I try to be outside as much as possible and enjoy camping, biking, hiking, boating, traveling and trying new restaurants in the Chicago area.
Dislikes: Chicago traffic and spicy food.
