Emerging professionals joined the USGBC Illinois chapter for a member exclusive event at the Loyola Institute for Environmental Sustainability Building Tour. The classroom, dormitory, laboratory, and office spaces are interconnected by a green house, which not only attract viewers with the building’s aesthetics but also engages students and faculties to take full advantage of its space.  Reaching for LEED Gold certification, Loyola University’s Ecodome boasts its 91 geothermal wells, 500 feet below the grade, and natural daylight exposure.  Loyola truly takes sustainability to heart.  From vegetation production to cafe supply to vegetable-based biodiesel to soap manufacturing, Loyola practices a cycle of sustainability without waste that harms the environment.  More importantly, the institution educates the occupants of its energy monitoring , constantly following up and receiving feedback for maximum progress.  Click through to view photos from the tour.
